Printer Trouble shooting
Pre - Install of Cartridges;
Avoid touching the chip(small printed circuit board)on side of the cartridge .Ensure that you remove the tab on TOP of the cartridge only.If there is a spacer under the clip side remove this.
POST INSTALL
You may get a message on the screen saying "this is not an Epson cartridge and it may damage your printer do you wish to coninue?"
This is a standard Epson "scare" warning- EPS cartridges will not damage your printer in any way - click "continue"
Another message that may appear is "Cartridge not recognised"
This can appear if the little "chip" on the cartridge is not communicating with the printer contacts-this can often be resolved by removing the cartridge and replacing again ensuring that it is properly seated.Should this not cure the problem it may be that the "chip" is slightly offset and can not be read by the printer-this happens very occasionally and you should replace with a new cartridge.Inform EPS Club and we will send you a FREE replacement in return.
Testing your printer;
Call upany document on your screen(even a blank page).Go to the top menu and select file then "print"(this will bring up the print dialogue box)at the top right hand corner of which you will find a button marked "properties" clicking this brings up another box which has a tab at the top marked "maintenance" clicking on this gives various choices including "Nozzle Check" which allows you to print a test pattern showing whether ink is flowing through all the print heads properly.If there are any missing lines it indicates that the heads need cleaning and you should select "Clean".When the cleaning cycle is complete it will offer you another nozzle check.If this nozzle is good the job is done but if there are still lines missing,further cleaning may be required.
Still Not Printing Properly
You may have to repeat the cleaning sequence(followed each tme with a nozzle check to see if there is an improvement) up to 4/5 times if there is a stubborn dried ink on the print heads.If 4/5 cleans shows no improvement on the nozzle check, the following may help.
Whichever colour cartridge is refusing to print properly may be almost empty even though the status monitor(ink level Indicator)shows remaining ink.(the status monitor does not actually measure the amount of ink remaining but is simply a "guestimate")and therefore may need replacing - 9/10 times this will cure the problem.
When repeated cleaning sequences fail to show any improvement,try printing a photograph on ordinary copy paper - this can help to get the ink flowing properly.
Sometimes after a repeated cleaning fails,simply switching the printer off(using the on/off button on the printer - not at the wall socket) and leaving it overnight will have softened the dry ink and it will print properly the next day.
As a last resort, having tried all of the above you may have to order an Epson cleaning kit.These kits are imported from California and are supplied by Epson specialists "fixyourownprinter.com on whose website you will find further help with your printer problems.
